Career Highlights

Ron has been the most successful coach in the history of Northern Arizona University athletics. He is now in his 21st season as the head cross country and track and field coach. His men's and women's teams have won a total of 50 Big Sky Conference championships in track and field and cross country, along with eight Mountain region cross country championships. He has coached 78 individual All-Americans and has had at least one athlete in every Summer Olympics since 1984.

Ron's accomplishments have been recognized by his peers; he has been named Big Sky Coach of the Year 30 times. Moreover, Ron received the ultimate Northern Arizona honor when he was inducted into the Bank One NAU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999.

Ron is an expert on high-altitude training and has been invited to speak on this subject at the U.S. Olympics Training Center, international coaching summits, and national high school and college conventions. He also helped develop Flagstaff's own High Altitude Sports Training Complex.

Ron has been a huge supporter of the Mt. SAC Relays. For many years, he has brought his entire men's and women's teams to the compete at Mt. SAC. His athletes have always performed well at the Relays, capturing many titles.
