Career Highlights

Don proved that sprinters could be durable, with a career than spanned five Olympic Games. The peak of his career came at the 1976 Games, where he won a gold medal in the 200m, and just missed (by .01 second) a second gold medal in the 100m. At the 1980 Games, he won a bronze medal in the 200m.

Don was active in the period during which sprint records transitioned from hand times to fully electronic timing. He was credited with tying the hand-timed world record (9.9) in the 100m, and breaking the hand-timed world record (19.8) in the 200m.

Although he won only one Mt. SAC individual event title, Don was a regular participant in relay races, both as a USC college student and club athlete.

Don also won an Olympic silver medal as a member of Jamaica's 4x100m relay team.
