The triple jump runway at Mt. SAC must have been one of Milan's favorite venues, for it was there that he recorded the longest legal jump of his illustrious career, bounding 55-2 in 1977. The title he won that year was one of four that he won at the Relays. He jumped further on his winning leaps in 1974 and 1979, but both of those marks were wind-aided. Milan sandwiched his two U.S. national championships with a NCAA title while a student at UCLA. Milan was considered a master technician. His form has served him well in Masters competition, as he continues to hold the men's age 45-50 world indoor record at 48-7 1/2 (14.82m). Born: 1949 College: UCLA |
